A Matter of Care, 2018
Solo Exhibition in group thesis show, Mutual Sensitivities
Archival Inkjet Prints on mdf, Recycled Clay
4' x 5' Prints, Clay Dimensions Variable
My work explores my evolving relationship with clay as a being. The malleable substance is my companion, my caregiver, and my ancestor. In each photograph, the same clay body is present and recording the imprint of my actions. It reacts to my weight and touch, and embraces me where I embrace it. The clay's function mimics my own through a repeating practice of care.
The works accumulated into an immersive exhibition, displaying four images and the same mass of clay used and reused in each image.
